CEPRI’s EVP attended 13th Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit
On November 28, the 13th Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit, hosted by Dii, was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. CEPRI’s Deputy General Manager (Executive Vice President) Guo Qiang was invited to attend a high-level panel of the summit and give a report on key technologies and challenges of new type of power systems.
The theme of this summit is “TIME FOR CLIMATE ACTION – From Announcements to Tangible Projects”, and more than 300 people, including ministerial-level government officials, heads of international organizations, major developers, investors, executives and experts from world-renowned energy and power companies from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, North America, Central Asia and other countries and regions attended the summit.
Representatives from various countries exchanged views on addressing global climate change, promoting green energy transition, and achieving climate neutrality, energy economic efficiency and energy security. They presented renewable energy policies, strategies, technology and standard development, project applications and markets for promoting regional green energy transition and building a low-carbon economy, and introduced the challenges, paths, initiatives, trends and advanced achievements in local capacity building, so as to accelerate the implementation of “zero emissions” strategies and projects. They also emphasized the important role of international cooperation in accelerating global energy transition.
Guo Qiang was invited to participate in a high-level panel on “Renewables and Green Energy Connecting Continents for Energy Security and Affordability”. He introduced the characteristics, challenges and countermeasures of new type of power systems, shared the construction of large-scale wind and solar bases in deserts, gobi and wasteland areas in China, and key challenges, technological innovation and application practices in the process, and demonstrated China's remarkable achievements as a leader in the new energy industry in applying Chinese technologies and solutions to building a new type of power system, actively steadily promoting energy transition, and helping achieve the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
On November 27, CEPRI, as a shareholder of Dii, attended the 46th shareholders' meeting and advisory board meeting of Dii, and participated in the discussion of important topics such as the value promotion of Dii’s platform and the future operation direction and mode. CEPRI’s experts mainly introduced the important achievements made in renewable energy, new energy storage, hydrogen energy and other areas in China.
On November 29, at the Dii partners meeting, CEPRI’s experts gave special speeches entitled “China's Approach for Zero-carbon Power System” and “Research on the Development Path of Electro-Hydrogen Coupling Technology” at the “China Country Spotlight” Sub-forum.
The Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit has become the largest and highest-level important industry exchange and cooperation platform in the Middle East and North Africa. In recent years, CEPRI has given full play to Dii's role as an international platform, actively publicized and demonstrated the SGCC's advanced concepts and leading strength in promoting low-carbon energy transition, and expanded its international influence.
