Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Department

The Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Department (”PTTED”) of China Electric Power Research Institute is mainly engaged in research and development, technology consulting, test and detection, as well as technical standard formulation and revision, in the field of transmission and transformation engineering mechanics. Our main business covers various areas including research and testing of ground wire fittings, research and testing of tower structures, research and testing of electric civil engineering, research and testing of construction techniques and equipment, design techniques of power transmission and transformation engineering, vibration control techniques of substations/converter stations, disaster monitoring and assessment techniques of transmission line, etc.

PTTED incorporates a General Administration Office and ten research divisions. By the end of June 2016, the Department owns 152 regular staffs, including 4 professorate senior engineers and 70 senior engineers. Among all the staffs, 85.5% members are intermediate/senior technicians, 115 members (about 75.7%) have gotten master/doctor degrees, 5 members are experts that receive government subsidy of State Council, 4 members are the outstanding technical experts of State Grid, and 9 members are the outstanding expert candidates of State Grid, including one senior expert of China Electric Power Research Institute, 3 outstanding technical experts of the Institute, and one technical research team of State Grid named Transmission Line Mechanics Simulation Research Team. PTTED has the qualification of offering the Master Degree in power transmission engineering.
