Laboratory on Operation and Testing Technology for Power Transmission and Transformation Equipment in Extreme Environment
Laboratory on Operation and Testing Technology for Power Transmission and Transformation Equipment in Extreme Environment was approved as a laboratory of State Grid Corporation of China in 2016. Initiated by China Electric Power Research Institute, it was jointly constructed by State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company, State Grid Heilongjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. and State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Co., Ltd.. The Laboratory affiliated to China Electric Power Research Institute is located in Wuhan Campus of the Institute. It is operated and managed by Power Industry Quality Inspection and Testing Center for Electric Equipment and Instruments, High Voltage Department and Metrology Department under China Electric Power Research Institute.
The Laboratory devotes itself to tackling tough problems in construction and operation of power transmission and transformation projects in extreme environment, performing research on design, construction and operation technologies for power transmission and transformation projects in such extreme environment as high and cold, strong wind, dust tornado, high temperature and fragile geological environment, carrying out R&D of corresponding equipment, and performing research on state assessment and network access detection technology for power transmission and transformation equipment in extreme environment, so as to provide technical support for grid construction and stable operation in extreme environment. The research directions mainly include: 1) research on failure mechanism of power transmission and transformation equipment in extreme environment; 2) research on performance evaluation method and standardization of power transmission and transformation equipment in extreme environment; 3) research on state assessment and diagnosis technology for power transmission and transformation equipment in extreme environment; 4) research on monitoring and alarming technology for grid disaster in extreme environment; 5) research on design, construction, operation, maintenance and overhaul technology for power transmission and transformation projects in extreme environment.
Presently the Laboratory is equipped with such scientific experimental research platforms as merge-joint compatibility small-current experiment system for electronic current transformer isolation switch, long-term electrified assessment platform for 220kV electronic transformer, fatigue wear test system for power transmission and transformation equipment, outdoor test base in extremely cold environment, and small geological disaster simulation system. It can carry out experimental research on failure mechanism of power transmission and transformation equipment, performance evaluation method, state assessment and diagnosis technology, grid disaster monitoring and alarming technology as well as design, construction, operation, maintenance and overhaul technology for power transmission and transformation projects.
