Laboratory on Conductor Mechanical Properties
Laboratory on Conductor Mechanical Properties is located in Liangxiang Area of China Electric Power Research Institute. Founded in 1958, the Laboratory was approved as one of the first key laboratories of the former State Power Corporation and those of State Grid Corporation of China respectively in 2001 and 2007. It is presently in the charge of State Grid Corporation of China and is operated and managed by Transmission and Transformation Engineering Department under China Electric Power Research Institute.
The Laboratory specializes in theoretical research on mechanical properties of transmission line conductor system, research on mechanism and control technology of conductor vibration, waving and insulator string wind-deviation, etc., R&D of conductor and new electric power fittings as well as research, test and detection of their properties. It is the only scientific research institution and test base in China that can carry out R&D of conductor fittings, research on key mechanical problems, and quality detection of conductor hardware products. The Laboratory has played an irreplaceable role in China's power grid construction and development.
Through bringing into full play its exclusive advantages in the field of transmission line conductor and hardware mechanical dynamics, the Laboratory has constantly improved its research and test abilities and played a leading and supportive role in the technologies in this field. Presently the Laboratory is equipped with 8 test systems: breeze test system, conductor vibration fatigue test system, conductor creep test system, interval rod fatigue test system, damper test system, large cross-section conductor creep test system, high current test system, and mechanical performance experiment system. As for scientific research, the Laboratory has been aiming at international research frontiers while attaching importance to the research on basic theory and application technology and promoting technical innovation. It has made a great deal of important achievements which reach international leading or advanced level and play a leading role in global technologies. In the aspect of test and detection, the Laboratory has constantly improved its test and detection abilities and devoted itself to performing research on detection technology, improving test and experiment means, serving the national power grid development strategy, providing quality supervision on conductor and fitting materials for construction of UHV project and other major projects, and providing important technical support for China's power grid development.
