Power System Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory
Power System Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory is located in Wuhan Area of China Electric Power Research Institute. Approved as one of the first "Laboratories of State Grid Corporation of China" in 2007 and as an important part of National Key Laboratory on Power Grid Environment Protection in 2015, the Laboratory is in the charge of State Grid Corporation of China and is operated and managed by High Voltage Department under China Electric Power Research Institute.
The Laboratory specializes in the research on basic problems facing power system electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic environment as well as the key technologies, with focus on characteristics of transient electromagnetic disturbance source in power transmission and transformation projects, corresponding protection technology, characteristics of electromagnetic environmental impact as well as monitoring and treatment technology in this regard. The Laboratory devotes to tackling key technological problems and engages in standardization of super/UHV substation electromagnetic compatibility technology (high-power transient characteristics, primary equipment disturbance characteristics, secondary equipment immunity and anti-interference technology), characteristics and treatment of substation (convertor station) noise, low frequency phenomenon of power grid and harmonic control, key technology of electromagnetic compatibility between large power grid and external system in wide-area space as well as characteristics, monitoring and treatment of the influence of power transmission and transformation engineering electromagnetic environment on the ambient environment and human health. It has raised comprehensive and systematic solutions and specific measures for electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic environment of China's power grid.
The Laboratory's scientific and technological achievements have drawn close attention from WHO, ICNIRP, CIGRE, IEC/TC77 and other international organizations and have been approved by the competent authorities in the field of gas pipeline and military and civilian radio stations, etc. Having a voice in the field of international power system electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic environment, it is an important integral part of the scientific and technological innovation system of State Grid Corporation of China, an important base for formulation of national and international standards in this field, and a national testing institution of electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic environment that has been authorized by Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
