Laboratory on Electrical Characteristics of High-voltage AC External Insulation
Laboratory on Electrical Characteristics of High-voltage AC External Insulation is located in Wuhan Campus of China Electric Power Research Institute. Founded in 2007 and approved as one of the second "Laboratories of State Grid Corporation of China" in 2010, the Laboratory is in the charge of State Grid Corporation of China and is operated and managed by High Voltage Departmetn under China Electric Power Research Institute.
According to the technical demand for long-gap discharge characteristics, insulator pollution/icing features, power transmission and transformation corona characteristics, live-line work characteristics, transmission line operation and maintenance technology, UHV equipment and insulator detection technology, etc., the Laboratory carries out technical research, test and detection on air gap discharge characteristics and insulation disposition of high-voltage and UHV power transmission and transformation, electrical characteristics of various insulators in lines and substations, hardware corona characteristics, line corona loss characteristics, insulating properties and structural design of fittings, and full-voltage and full-current assessment of primary equipment, etc.
The Laboratory is equipped with 7500kV long-wave front impulse voltage generator (wave range: 1.2祍~2500祍), 4800kV impulse voltage generator, UHV artificial contamination laboratory (length ?width ?height: 24?4?6m (clearance)), artificial pollution characteristic test system, UHV AC fittings all-condition test and research platform, indoor electrical characteristic experimental hall, materials testing laboratory, artificial accelerated aging laboratory and other large-scale scientific research testing equipment and platforms. It can carry out test on discharge characteristics of EHV/UHV line full-scale tower and substation full-size frame gap, phase-to-phase impulse voltage test, test on insulation characteristics of primary equipment of power transmission and transformation at various voltage classes in multiple environments (pollution, icing, rain and high altitude, etc.) , rapid artificial pollution and insulation test on insulator string/insulation equipment, and long-term UHV AC fitting full-voltage and full-current charged assessment, etc. Meanwhile, it can conduct type test, sampling test and third-party witnessed test on various insulator, conductors and other electrical equipment in line with such standards as IEC, GB and DL.
