National Key Laboratory on Power Grid Environment Protection
National Key Laboratory on Power Grid Environment Protection is located in Wuhan Campu of China Electric Power Research Institute. Founded in 2015 upon the approval of Ministry of Science and Technology, the Laboratory is in the charge of Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province and is operated and managed by High Voltage Department under Wuhan Branch of China Electric Power Research Institute.
Targeting at the problems in the field of power grid environment protection, the Laboratory performs further research on basic and generic technologies for super/UHV grid electromagnetic environment and noise impact mechanism, prediction model and control, large-capacity environmental-friendly transmission over a long distance, and electromagnetic interference characteristics and protection of the grid, etc. It aims to become "Four Centers": research center of power grid environmental protection technology, standard formulation center, achievement transformation center, and talent training and exchange center, so as to support the harmonious development of China's power grid and environmental protection.
The Laboratory is equipped with advanced equipment, including 132 sets of high-value apparatus and equipment, with the total value of the facilities and equipment reaching 273,340,000RMB. Large-sized scientific research facilities in the Laboratory include: UHV AC test line, long-term observation base for ecological impact of extremely-low frequency electromagnetic field, climate laboratory, UHV corona cage, impulse voltage generator, electromagnetic environment test field and all-weather test system, etc. Meanwhile, the Laboratory will further improve its experimental ability, and will, on the existing foundation, constantly introduce and develop advanced apparatus and equipment, deepen its integration, and continuously construct and perfect six major test and research platforms: electromagnetic environment simulation and test platform, long-term observation platform for ecological impact of extremely-low frequency electromagnetic field, high-altitude corona cage test platform, noise test platform, electromagnetic interference test platform, and new-type environmental protection equipment test platform.
