National Large-scale Wind Power Integration R&D (Test) Center (NWIC)
National Large-scale Wind Power Integration R&D (Test) Center (NWIC) is located in Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Established in 2009 upon the approval of National Energy Administration, NWIC is one of the first 16 national energy R&D (test) centers and the only authorized wind power integration testing organization in China. It mainly specializes in the research on wind power testing and detection techniques, key technology for offshore wind power integration, wind power prediction technology, wind power integration simulation and analysis technology, and scheduling optimization technology for wind power and other power sources.
NWIC has acquired CMA accreditation qualifications and CNAS laboratory accreditation qualifications. With the capacity of wind turbines type testing and wind turbines/wind field grid detection, it can carry out test on 82 parameters belonging to 8 major categories, including wind turbines power characteristics test, wind turbines power quality test and wind turbines low-voltage penetration test. NWIC has established wind power simulation research platform, developed the first wind power prediction system and photovoltaic power prediction system in China, developed the first wind power scheduling plan system with proprietary intellectual property rights in China, established China's first large-scale numerical weather forecast center exclusively used for wind/photovoltaic power prediction, established the internationally advanced Zhangbei Wind Power Test Base, established Chinese technical standard system for wind power grid operation, and initiated the foundation of IEC TC/SC8A Technical Sub-committee of "Large-Capacity Renewable Energy Power Grid" of International Electro-technical Commission (IEC), with the Secretariat being affiliated to China Electric Power Research Institute. Moreover, NWIC has acquired the qualifications to become a member of the international wind power testing organization-- MEASNET. It is the only member of MEASNET which is not a European or American country.
